The Sultanate of Oman is a country of splendid beauty, safety and peace. Oman is distinguished by its diverse nature, where desert meets fertile plains and green mountains engulf sea water. The Sultanate of Oman is located on the southeastern quarter of the Arabian Peninsula and covers a total land area of 309,500km². Oman’s coastline extends to more than 3000km from Strait of Hormuz in the north to the borders of Yemen in the south. The Sultanate of Oman is surrounded by three seas namely, Arabian Sea, Gulf of Oman & Persian Gulf. Oman’s beaches are renowned by its diversified geographical nature which makes the Sultanate an investment-attractive country. This contributes significantly to supporting and enhancing the national economy, and the value from various industries such as fishing and logistic industries as well as tourism, telecommunication, customs and industrial sector. Statistics obtained from various economic sectors related to the maritime industry, indicate a continuous growth in these sectors. Self-sufficiency ratio from fisheries was 193% in 2017. Omani ports witnessed significant growth, and tourists to Sultan Qaboos Port reached 41% in 2016. In addition, gross volume of loaded goods at Sohar port increased to 1.654 Million Tonnes.
